DAY FIVE OF THE UMPTEEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

As promised, the Better Off Red elves are giving you a chance to win some very cool Reds-related gifts as a “thank you” for your support in 2013!  It’s a little something we like to call “The Umpteen Days of Christmas.”

Every day through Sunday, December 22nd, you’ll have the opportunity to win a top-of-the-line prize.  Here’s how…

Using the comments section of this blog post, correctly answer the following Holiday-related trivia question:

According to Ms. Underwood, what did yonder break after the weary world rejoiced?

Easy enough?

You’ll notice, I made the actual comments in the comments section invisible to you and other readers.  This is to cut down on “cheating.”  Once you submit your comment, it will be automatically emailed to me, where only I’ll be able read your answer.  I’ll put all the correct answers in a pile from which I’ll choose one random winner, daily.  If you win, I’ll contact you via email.

And remember – no matter what holiday you celebrate this time of the year, Better Off Red celebrates it, too.  Thus, all of you are encouraged to participate!

Congratulations to Day Four’s randomly selected winner, Alex Buskirk, who correctly answered yesterday’s question, stating that there’s a Christmas tree in “The Grand Hotel”  (according to Bing Crosby).  Alex wins some really cool stuff courtesy of the Reds Authentics Department and Reds staffers Lisa Braun, Zach Bonkowski and Lori Watt.

We’ll announce today’s winner tomorrow.  Good luck!

THE UMPTEENTH DAY OF CHRISTMAS – WINNER

Another season of the Umpteen Days of Christmas has come to an end.  Congratulations to Jonathon Davis, our randomly selected winner of the “Umpteenth Day.” The final day’s answer was: Because to make a washtub bass you have to put a hole in the washtub.

Jonathon wins the autographed photo of Todd Frazier, the Billy Hamilton signed baseball, the game-used baseball from the “clinch”  game against the Dodgers and a 2013 Reds Pass-Port.

I hope you all had as much fun with this as I did!  Filming the scenes with Nick, Jon, Rat, Kory, Jillian and Shannon was an absolute blast.  It was our goal to bring you a little bit of good cheer during the holiday season.  We also wanted to use the Umpteen Days to sincerely thank you for your loyal support of the team and the blog.  I so very much appreciate you folks!

A special ‘thank you’ to the “elves” who provided all of our wonderful prizes – Zach Bonkowski and the Promotional Events Department, Reds Group Sales and Tickets departments, Jon Cline and the Reds Authentics Department, Tim Parks of Pass-Port Sports, the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum and last but certainly not least – the incomparable Lisa Braun.

Finally, I know we’ve been subjected to a lot of bad news lately but in the next few days, many of you are going to be around your family, friends and loved ones.  Perhaps we can all use that opportunity to be thankful for the good stuff.

Also, in light of recent events, pay attention to those who may be a bit gloomy these days.  A word of encouragement, a simple sign of love or even an offer to help doesn’t cost anything.

Always, ALWAYS expect good news
