SUNDAY’S #REDS LINEUP; PREGAME RUNDOWN
From my pal @Bongreatness…
Today the franchise will officially retire the #14 worn by Pete Rose during his Reds career. The ceremony to honor Pete will begin at 12:26PM with red carpet introductions. Joining Pete on a special stage placed on the infield dirt at second base will be other Reds retired number honorees #5 Johnny Bench, #11 Barry Larkin, #13 David Concepcion and #24 Tony Perez. Today’s ceremony will once again be emceed by Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman and Reds President & CEO Bob Castellini will speak on behalf of the organization, ending with the official unveiling of #14 on the GABP façade. Fans will once again hear from Pete at the end of today’s ceremony. Things wrap up today with a ceremonial first pitch which Pete has asked to be thrown by his son, Pete Rose Jr., who was the only other player to wear #14 since the start of the 1963 season when Pete won the NL Rookie of the Year.
All fans in attendance today will receive a commemorative Pete Rose print, courtesy of John Morrell. The print is a replica of an original commissioned painting, produced by renowned artist Bart Forbes, which will be presented to Pete during today’s pregame ceremony. Pete will also receive a custom crystal sculpture created by Studio 11. The commissioned painting & crystal sculpture are traditional gifts given to those players who receive the honor of number retirement with the Reds franchise.
Kids in attendance today will receive a Devin Mesoraco Fathead™ courtesy of Orville Redenbacher & Kroger. Gates to the ballpark are scheduled to open at 11:10AM for Season Ticket Members and 11:40AM for the general public. However those times could be adjusted in accordance with Cincinnati Fire Code, should the crowd size outside the gates dictate it so.
Performing our National Anthem today prior to the start of the #14 retirement ceremony (12:23PM) will be Denver, KY native – Marlana VanHoose.
Leading us in the singing of God Bless America during the middle of the 7th inning break today will be Abby Paskvan.
Following the conclusion of today’s game fans will have the opportunity to Run the Bases, presented by Entenmann’s Little Bites. Today’s event is the second of three Run the Bases open to all fans during the 2016 season.
