Tonight is the 3rd Fireworks Friday of the 2016 season, presented by United Dairy Farmers. The approximately 15-minute fireworks show, featuring Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks set to a Star Wars™ soundtrack, will begin approximately 10 minutes after the conclusion of tonight’s game.

Tonight is the start of Star Wars™ weekend at GABP and the first 20,000 fans in attendance tonight will receive a free Star Wars™/ Reds poster. At tonight’s game and throughout the weekend we will be joined at the ballpark by Star Wars characters from the Ohio Garrison of the 501st Legion, the Apollo Base of the Rebel Legion, and the Rancor Clan of the Mandalorian Merchs to participate in a variety of activities.

The Reds farmhands have been outstanding on the field of late as Louisville (4-2), Pensacola (4-2) and Daytona (3-2) posted winning weeks. Louisville leads the IL in the Wild Card race by one game over the Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates) while Pensacola is 1.5 games behind the Biloxi Shuckers (Milwaukee Brewers) for first in the Southern League standings.

Reds were the only organization in baseball to receive an award at each level.
Jermaine Curtis of the Louisville Bats was named International Player of the Month. The third baseman, hit .385 with 18 RBI and a .515 on-base percentage. Curtis hit .464 with runners on-base in April, and an even better .526 (10-for-19) with runners in scoring position. He leads the Reds system in batting average and RBI.

Curtis was not the only hitter to receive an award as Phillip Ervin (Pensacola) and Aristides Aquino (Daytona) took Player of the Week honors in their respective leagues.

Ervin was named Southern League Player of the Week after going 7-for-15 with three homers, two doubles and five RBI. He stole four bases during the streak and snapped a 1-for-24 seven-game prior to the start of April 25. Ervin leads the Reds system with nine stolen bases.

Aquino was on the same boat as Ervin, batting a season-low .157 entering the April 25th contest against Clearwater. The right-fielder ended the week batting .444 (8-for-18) with four homers and eight RBI and was named Florida State League Player of the Week. He leads all Reds farmhands with five homers on

On the bump, Franderlin Romero (Dayton) snagged the Pitcher of the Week award in the Midwest League. Romero went 1-1 with a 0.00 ERA. He struck out 13 in 11 innings on the mound. On April 26, the right-hander was four out short of tossing a no-hitter against Kane County.

With April in the books, the Cincinnati Reds affiliates will continue to improve their 47-59 overall record in the month of May.
