PNC/Players for the Planet E-Waste Recycling Drives, May 5-7

CINCINNATI (April 22, 2016) — PNC, The Cincinnati Reds and Players for the Planet are joining forces again with Cohen Recycling and many of Cincinnati’s leading corporations for the 7th annual PNC/Players for the Planet E-Waste Recycling Drives on May 5-7, 2016.

The PNC/Players for the Planet E-Waste Recycling Drives provide an easy way for Reds fans and residents of Greater Cincinnati to responsibly recycle old electronics.

The public is encouraged to visit three convenient locations with their electronic waste for recycling:

Thursday, May 5, 2016 – 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• PNC Bank/Kroger – Northgate Square: 9650 Colerain Ave., Cincinnati, 45251

Friday, May 6, 2016 – 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• PNC Bank/Kroger – Anderson Towne Center: 7500 Beechmont Ave., Cincinnati, 45230

Saturday, May 7, 2016 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• PNC Bank/Kroger – Hyde Park Plaza: 3740 Paxton Road, Cincinnati, 45209

Players for the Planet will accept personal computers, cell phones, cords, monitors, televisions, small home appliances and most other electronics. The full list of acceptable electronics is listed at: cohenusa.com/reds.

The first 300 cars at each event will receive two free tickets to a select 2016 regular season Reds game.

A minimum donation of $10 per car is suggested to offset recycling costs and to benefit the Reds Community Fund.

A CRT television or monitor can contain more than six pounds of lead, which poses very serious health risks if not properly recycled.

Last year’s recycling drives collected nearly 200,000 pounds of electronic waste from over 2,000 cars.

Over 950,000 pounds of e-waste has been diverted from landfills since the drives started in 2010 and the 1,000,000 pound total is expected to be surpassed on the first day of the drive.

Sponsors who make this event possible include PNC, Cohen Recycling, Macy’s, CBTS, Rumpke, Kroger and Duke Energy.

Organizing partners include City of Cincinnati Office of Environment & Sustainability, Green Umbrella, Butler County Solid Waste and Hamilton County Recycling & Solid Waste.
