IGLESIAS NAMED #REDS OPENING DAY STARTER

RHP Raisel Iglesias will start for the Redlegs on Opening Day vs the Phillies, followed in the rotation by LHP Brandon Finnegan in Game 2 and TBA in the series finale.

Iglesias will become the second Cuban pitcher to start for the Reds on Opening Day, joining Reds Hall of Famer Dolf Luque (1921 vs Pirates, 1928 vs Cubs).

RHP Alfredo Simon will pitch the first game of the season’s second series, a 3-game set against the Pirates, followed by Iglesias and TBA.

Gotta admit I’m surprised that DeSclafini wasn’t named the starter given how he performed last year. That said, I’m excited for Iglesias, and think he’s going to have a great year.
