This week’s Better Off Red Podcast is now available HERE!

This week, Reds Hall of Famer Jim Maloney joins me for a baseball-filled conversation that I’m certain you’ll enjoy. Jim talks about the multiple no-hitters he threw when he was one of the best pitchers in the game during the 1960s. He also reveals that former Reds GM Bob Howsam questioned his toughness and ability to play through pain.

Jim Maloney played for legendary managers Fred Hutchinson and Sparky Anderson and was the only player to appear on both the Reds’ 1961 and 1970 rosters.  Both of those teams went to the World Series.

I could’ve listened to Jim for hours.  He has so many great stories and had an amazing Major League career.  Most of all, he’s a world-class guy; a benevolent gentleman. Talking to Jim reminded me of being a kid at the barber shop hanging on every word as the weekly regulars waxed poetic on baseball.

I hope you’ll enjoy this week’s podcast with Jim Maloney.  A big thanks to Eleventh Dream Day for providing our music this week!  Check out their latest album Works For Tomorrow.

Next week’s guest is two-time Gold Glove second baseman Pokey Reese!
