CLUBHOUSE CHEMISTRY?

In light of what happened in the Nationals’ dugout yesterday, there was a Twitter discussion today on “clubhouse chemistry” and whether or not it has an effect on the success of a team.  So, let me pose the question to you:

…..

THE NATION’S CAPITAL

The Reds are in DC this afternoon to take on the Nationals at 3:05pm.  Today’s game is the makeup of the July 8 contest that was postponed due to wet grounds and the threat of rain.  The Redlegs will return to GABP tomorrow to begin the final home series of the season – a 3-game set against the Cubs.

Here’s today’s lineup at Washington:

9-28-15

VOTTO WATCH

In yesterday’s 8-1 loss vs New York, Joey Votto went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a walk to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 44 straight games. It’s the longest such current streak in the Majors.

Overall this season, Joey has reached base safely in 139 of his 152 appearances.

With 7 games remaining in the season, Votto is trying to join Barry Bonds (4x), Ted Williams (3x) and Babe Ruth (2x) as the only players in Major League history to hit at least .300 (.318) with 30 home runs (29) and 150 walks (140).

MARTY GOLF

Plenty of photos continue to come in to Better Off Red Headquarters from the CBTS Marty Brennaman Golf Classic currently taking place at Belterra Casino and Resort.  Here are a few courtesy of my pal Michael “Mando” Anderson

SUNDAY’S REDS TRANSACTION

The Reds claimed off waivers from the Indians OF Tyler Holt and transferred to the 60-day disabled list IF/OF Kristopher Negron.

CONGRATULATIONS, DICKIE!

In pre-game ceremonies yesterday the Reds recognized Dick Maus, who is retiring after helping bring games into the homes of Reds fans for more than 5 decades. Dick worked for 700 WLW Radio from 1961-75 and since 1979 has been a part of the Reds TV crew.

Dick is widely considered among his peers here at GABP as the kindest, sweetest man around.  He’s certainly going to be missed here at the ballpark.

On behalf of those here at BOR, best wishes, Dick!

…..

As the season winds down, there’s still a lot of prizes to be given away here on Better Off Red, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled!

That’s all for now! More in a bit.

Expect good news!

Jamie
