#REDS BASELINE ITEMS FOR WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23
Keep checking today’s Baseline Items, as this post may be updated with information/news as the day progresses.
In last night’s 3-1 loss at St. Louis, Joey Votto went 0-for-3 with a walk to extend his streak of reaching base safely to 39 straight games. It’s the second-longest such streak in Votto’s career as he reached safely in 41 consecutive games during his MVP year of 2010.
Votto’s 39-game on-base streak is currently the second-longest in the Majors (Joe Mauer, 41).
Overall this season, Joey has reached base safely in 134 of his 147 appearances.
The folks at FanGraphs posted THIS outstanding piece on Votto and hitting. It’s well worth the read.
And while you’re over there at FanGraphs, you might want to also check out THIS entry about the potentially dangerous Big Three in the Reds pitching staff.

MIDPOINT MUSIC FESTIVAL
The Reds and Mets won’t be the only ones playing in Cincinnati this weekend. The Midpoint Music Festival is also taking place in the Queen City from Friday through Sunday with all kinds of cool bands scheduled to perform rock-n-roll music at moderately high decibels.
I hope you folks get a chance to tie in a ballgame at Great American Ball Park with a few live music shows downtown. Perhaps we can meet up at the Moon Duo show on Sunday night at 10pm at the “Lightborne Lot.”
That’s all for now. More in a bit.
Expect good news!
