#REDS BASELINE ITEMS FOR SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5
Reds prospect Beau Amaral made an incredible leaping catch last night in Pensacola’s 15-inning 5-4 win vs Mobile. Take a look…
In that game, OF Jesse Winker went 4-for-6 with 3 runs scored. In 30 games beginning August 1, Winker is batting .355 (38-107) with 9 doubles, 6 homers, 19 RBI and 21 walks.
Something I forgot to share with you folks in yesterday’s road trip recap…
I was minding my own business recently in the Reds clubhouse while the team was in Chicago, when Raisel Iglesias walked in whistling the Star Spangled Banner. It was kind of touching, if not a subtle reminder that Iglesias, a Cuban who currently doesn’t speak fluent English, is doing his best to immerse himself in the USA and get acclimated to his surroundings.
I really like Raisel – and not just for his brilliance on the mound. He usually has a smile on his face and is very friendly to everyone he comes into contact with. And yes, he’s working on his English. For what it’s worth, I saw him the other day greet Reds beat writer Mark Sheldon with a “What’s up, what’s up!”
Of all the great Reds pitchers in franchise history (Soto, Walters, Maloney, Rijo, Rixey, Blackwell, Seaver, etc), it’s amazing that Iglesias is the first to ever record double-digit strikeouts in 3 straight games. Hopefully it’s a sign to come!
Congratulations to Lisa Foster, who was randomly chosen as the winner of yesterday’s BOR contest. She gets some cool All-Star Game schwag.
Don’t worry, I plan on giving away some more stuff soon, so stay tuned!
If you’re planning on attending one or both games of today’s doubleheader, gates to Game One open at 11:10 for season ticket holders and 11:40 for general public. For the nightcap, gates are scheduled to open at 5:10, but they could possibly open earlier depending on the conclusion of the matinee.
Because today’s games are part of a day/night doubleheader, you’ll be required to have a ticket to each game. (One ticket doesn’t cover both contests).
The Reds Stein will be given away to the first 20,000 fans attending Game one (only).
The second game of today’s doubleheader will NOT be televised by Fox Sports Ohio.
