The Padres today are celebrating “Wayback Wednesday” by wearing the brown pinstripe uniforms worn by the team from 1985-1990.  (Roseanne is NOT scheduled to perform the Star Spangled Banner today).

Happy birthday to Zack Cozart, who today turns 30.

Today would’ve been former Reds manager Fred Hutchinson’s 96th birthday.  “Hutch” is a beloved figure in Reds history and was the first to have his uniform number (#1) retired by the team.  Hutchinson lost his battle with cancer in 1964 at the age of 45.

From our friends at Elias Sports Bureau

“The home team won all 15 games on the MLB slate on Tuesday night. That’s the most games in one day, all won by the home team, in major league history. The previous record was 12 games on May 23, 1914. There were three major leagues in 1914, the National (four games that day), American (four) and Federal (four), which had a two-year lifespan (1914 and 1915).

The Yankees and Indians also played a long game that day, a 10-9 Yankees win in 11 innings at the Polo Grounds.”

For those wondering…

The All-Star Game moustache benches are being moved to corporate sponsor and private donor locations throughout the region.  However, there will always be two benches on display for the public to see – one at Great American Ball Park and the other at the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy in Roselawn.
