Today is the 14th annual ALS Awareness Day at Great American Ball Park. It is estimated that ALS, commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s Disease, effects as many as 30,000 Americans at any one time.

Today we will be joined by the Secretary of the Navy, Ray Mabus, for a special pregame ceremony along with Cincinnati Vice Mayor David Mann. Secretary Mabus will offer up one of our ceremonial first pitches today at the conclusion of the ceremony, which will involve naming one of the United States Navy’s newest ships the “Cincinnati”. This will be the fifth time a vessel has been dubbed the “Cincinnati” in US Navy history.

Today is the second annual Gospel Day at Great American Ball Park, featuring a postgame concert by Casey J & Fred Hammond. The concert will begin approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of today’s game.

During the middle of the 7th inning break today we will be joined by Pastor Rodney Posey, who will lead us in the singing of God Bless America.
