Hinch, McClendon Selected AL Coaches; Mattingly, Price to Represent NL

American League All-Star manager Ned Yost of the defending AL Champion Kansas City Royals and National League All-Star manager Bruce Bochy of the defending World Series Champion San Francisco Giants today officially announced the managers who will serve as their coaches at Major League Baseball’s 86th All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, July 14th at Great American Ball Park, the home of the Cincinnati Reds.

Yost has named managers A.J. Hinch of the Houston Astros and Lloyd McClendon of the Seattle Mariners to join his AL staff. Hinch, who is in his first season at the helm of the Astros, will make his All-Star coaching debut, while McClendon was previously a member of Dusty Baker’s NL staff at the 2003 All-Star Game in Chicago. Yost’s Royals staff – pitching coach Dave Eiland, catching coach Pedro Grifol, bullpen coach Doug Henry, third base coach Mike Jirschele, first base coach Rusty Kuntz, hitting coach Dale Sveum and bench coach Don Wakamatsu – will also work with the AL All-Stars. Adam Nevala, head athletic trainer of the Los Angeles Angels, and Paul Harker, assistant athletic trainer of the Tampa Bay Rays, will round out the AL staff.

Bochy has invited managers Don Mattingly of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Bryan Price of the host Reds to join his NL staff. Mattingly, a six-time All-Star for the Yankees (1984-89) and later a member of Joe Torre’s coaching staff in New York, served on Torre’s AL coaching staff at the 2004 Midsummer Classic in Houston. Price, in his second season as manager of the Reds, will be working on an All-Star staff for the first time. Bochy’s Giants staff – assistant coach Shawon Dunston, bullpen coach Mark Gardner, first base coach Bill Hayes, third base coach Roberto Kelly, batting coach Hensley Meulens, pitching coach Dave Righetti and bench coach Ron Wotus – also will join the NL staff. Paul Lessard, head athletic trainer of the Reds, and Scott Gehret, assistant athletic trainer of the Colorado Rockies, will tend to the NL All-Stars.

The 2015 All-Star Game will be played at Great American Ball Park on Tuesday, July 14th. The 86th All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 160 countries. ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide exclusive national radio coverage of the All-Star Game. MLB Network, MLB.com and Sirius XM also will provide comprehensive All-Star Week coverage.
