Down on the farm…

Last night for AA-Pensacola, RHP Robert Stephenson struck out 11 of the 21 batters he faced (4.2ip, 2h, 2r/2er, 5bb) as the Blue Wahoos were defeated by Jacksonville in extra-innings, 8-6.  Over his last 4 starts, Stephenson is holding batters to a .187 batting average (22ip, 8r/7er, 2.86era, 1hr, 24k).

Also last night for Pensacola, Reds prospects Kyle Waldrop and Jesse Winker switched outfield positions. Waldrop made his season debut in left field while Winker, Pensacola’s primary left fielder, moved to right.

After a slow start to the season (.242/.271/.394 in April), Waldrop has been on fire this month.  In 23 games in May, he’s batting .333 with a .351 on-base percentage while slugging at a .541 clip.

If you’re wondering why Johnny Cueto isn’t making his scheduled start today, he’s suffering from elbow stiffness. Mark Sheldon has more on that story HERE.

How about this throw from Joey yesterday?!

More in a bit. Let’s go Reds!!

Expect good news,
