HOMER BAILEY TO HAVE SEASON-ENDING SURGERY

RHP Homer Bailey has been diagnosed with a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow…he is expected to return during the 2016 season…“After consulting with (team medical director) Dr. Kremchek and other orthopaedic surgeons, we determined the best option with the most predictable outcome is to surgically repair the ligament,” said Reds President of Baseball Operations and General manager Walt Jocketty. “It does not appear the injury is at all related to the right elbow flexor mass injury Homer sustained late last season.”…Kremchek will perform the “Tommy John” surgery next Friday at Beacon Orthopaedics in Cincinnati…in other medical news, minor league IF/OF Donald Lutz this morning had season-ending reconstructive UCL surgery…he injured his right elbow last week while playing for Class AAA Louisville.
