#REDS BASELINE ITEMS FOR MONDAY
The Reds were well-represented this weekend during the the sixth annual Marvin Lewis Community Fund’s Cincinnati Scurry. The Scurry is a creative fundraiser that takes the form of an “Amazing Race-type” of event.
Corporate teams of 4 people were sent around Cincinnati to complete various challenges that required speed, problem-solving, trivia and knowledge of the Cincinnati area. Tasks included acting out a scene from “A League of Their Own” in the Reds dugout, singing karaoke with a live band on stage at The Holy Grail, drinking 2 ounces of beer from a baby bobble nipple at Haufbrauhaus, riding in a Segway obstacle course, playing flip cup against members of a University of Cincinnati fraternity, kicking a field goal at Paul Brown Stadium and tasting and identifying juice ingredients at an Over-The-Rhine juice bar.
The Reds team, consisting of staffers Kristen Snyder, Brandon Chaney, Megan Hewett and Michael “Mando” Anderson finished in second place, just behind the three-time reigning champions. Congrats, gang!
“The Reds are proud to have finished runner-up to the three-time reigning Scurry champions from American Modern Insurance Group,” said Anderson, Reds public relations manager. “The event benefits the Marvin Lewis Community Fund’s ‘Learning Is Cool’ program so at the end of the day it’s all about the kids.”
“But make no mistake, we will be training diligently over the next year honing our Scurry skills to improve our second place finish,” added Mando. “Starting tomorrow, I’m going to practice drinking beer out of a baby bottle nipple every single day until I perfect my technique.”

Last year’s Reds first-round draft choice, RHP Nick Howard fired 5.0 solid innings on Saturday in A-Daytona’s 9-1 win over Tampa. Howard, 22, gave up an unearned run on 2 hits (5bb, 4k) and was popping the mitt with a mid-90s fastball.
