REDS ACQUIRE DODGERS PITCHING PROSPECT FOR HEISEY
Non-Tender Partch & Ondrusek

CINCINNATI – Cincinnati Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty today announced the acquisition of RHP Matt Magill from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for OF Chris Heisey.

Magill, 25, in 2014 went 7-6 with a 5.21 ERA in 36 appearances and 12 starts for Triple-A Albuquerque. In 2012 for Double-A Chattanooga, he posted a 3.75 ERA and struck out 168 batters over 146.1 innings and 26 starts and was named to the Southern League All-Star team. In 2013, the native Californian made 6 starts for the Dodgers in his Major League debut.

“We are excited to be adding a player with a power arm who has a chance to help our club next season,” Jocketty said of the 6-3, 210-pound Magill.

Heisey, who turns 30 on December 14, has spent his entire professional career with the Reds. He was selected by Cincinnati in the 17th round of the 2006 first-year player draft and appeared in 543 games for the Reds, primarily as an outfielder and pinch hitter.

In other transactions today, the Reds did not offer 2015 contracts to RHP Logan Ondrusek or RHP Curtis Partch. Ondrusek this season posted a 5.49 ERA in 40 relief appearances, while Partch pitched in 6 games for the Reds and went 4-1 with a 4.75 ERA in 2 starts and 39 relief appearances for Class AAA Louisville.
