Welcome to Week Two of The 2014 Burt Awards!

Every Friday, through Halloween, a new batch of categories will be unveiled for voting.  Polls will close at Midnight, November 7. Results will be posted right here on BOR on Monday, November 10.

Before we get to this week’s categories, don’t forget to vote for Week One’s nominees.

And speaking of Week One – congratulations to Denise Pavey, who, for talking up The Burts, wins a special prize from Better Off Red Headquarters!

Would you like to be Week Two’s winner?  Simply participate in the discussion by leaving a comment on this blog post and/or by including the hashtag #TheBurts in your tweets this week.  I will announce one random winner prior to the unveiling of next week’s nominees.

Without further ado, here are the new categories that need your votes…

Our first category for Week Two is Most Outstanding Pitcher.  This one should be fairly easy…

Our next category is “Best Breakout Season” (not sponsored by Oxy or Clearasil).  Which Reds player used the 2014 campaign to best establish himself as a bona fide big leaguer?  There are some very strong candidates here, so choose wisely.

Who had the Best Hair on the team in 2014?  Last year, 40% of you picked Bronson Arroyo. Remember this category is for best hair and shouldn’t be confused with Best Facial Hair (a category that will be unveiled in the coming weeks).

Despite the club’s record, the Reds had players in 2014 that kept you glued to the game.  This category is “Player You Most Enjoy Watching.”  @DatDudeBP took home the hardware last year with 31% of the vote.

Every baseball manager will tell you that it’s very important to have a good bench.  There are many crucial situations during the season and during individual games that call for a Super Sub.  Who was the best in this category for the Reds in 2014?  Last year, it was Billy Hamilton (37%).

That’s it for Week Two! Thanks for voting, and don’t forget to take the discussion to Twitter by using the hashtag #TheBurts and/or leaving your thoughts in the comments section of this post!

More categories next week!

Kristopher Negron was an amazing addition to the roster this Year, hope to see more of him next year!

Who doesn’t love Johnny Cueto’s hair? It’s the best by far…..Jay’s makes him look like the Frischs Big Boy (sorry Jay), Matt Latos’ hair is old news (plus he rarely takes his ball cap off), love Sammy LeCure, but when he shaved his head and left that little “Pebbles” thing in the front….that kicked him out of this race!

Love my REDS!

Love the categories, always hard to pick the best hair!

Pena had a great year filling in for our multimillion dollar super dud

The addition of Devin, Billy Hamilton and Brayan Peña in these categories is going to make the voting very close. These “youngsters” make the team exciting and are going to make The Burts even more exciting! I think a couple of them will take home the prize.

This is fun!
