THURSDAY’S #REDS LINEUP: WHO’S YOUR ‘RED-TO-ROCK?’
From my pal @Bongreatness…
During pregame ceremonies today we will join in ceremonies being held across Major League Baseball to honor and remember the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. As part of that program, today is the second “Police & Fire Appreciation Day” of the 2014 season and is also the final “Military Appreciation Day, presented by GovX.com” of the 2014 season.
Offering up ceremonial first pitches today will be Major Charmaine McGuffey (representing the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department), 11-year old Imani Armstrong (representing the Cincinnati Fire Department) and Chief Jeffrey Blackwell (representing the Cincinnati Police Department).
Delivering the Official Game Ball today will be Specialist Andrew Logan & serving as today’s Honorary Captain will be Sergeant Andrew Gadd.
Prior to the singing of our National Anthem, performed today by Cincinnati Firefighter John Winfrey, the USO will be unfurling a giant tribute flag in the outfield grass. The Union Township Police Department & Fairfield Township Fire Department will each present colors for today’s game. A Moment of Remembrance will take place prior to the start of the Anthem to honor the victims of the 9/11/01 terrorist attacks, as well as all fallen members of our Armed Forces, Police & Fire/EMS.
During the middle of the 7th inning break today we will welcome Technical Sergeant Eric Knorr, from Wright Patterson Air Force Base & Air Force Band of Flight, as he performs God Bless America on trumpet.
