By now, I think you’re aware of the “Bacon Challenge” at Great American Ball Park’s Machine Room Grille.  If not, it’s basically a food-eating contest in which one has to eat four 1-pound bacon sandwiches along with sides of potato salad and chips….all in the span of 1 full inning of baseball (6 outs).

Up until a few days ago, none of the handful of challengers this season have come close to “winning” – if that’s what you want to call it.

Over the weekend, a young man named Jeremiah Forster nearly accomplished the impossible.

Forster had a plan of attack.  He smeared the potato salad on the sandwiches, soaked his chips in water, put in his ear-buds and went to town.  He ate all four of the 1-pound sandwiches before the inning was up but he didn’t get the chips down in time.

Eyewitnesses say if there had been a pitching change in the inning, he would’ve successfully answered the Bacon Challenge.

In a show of good sportsmanship, the folks in the Machine Room Grille still gave Forster half-off the price of the sandwiches and a “I Conquered the Bacon Challenge” t-shirt.

Here are a couple of pics from the gluttonous event…
