Today’s game is scheduled to start at 4:10PM, to help accommodate the crowds and participants in the 2014 Flying Pig Marathon.

The first 20,000 fans through the gates today will receive a STAR WARS™ Reds poster (“May the Fourth be with you”). Additionally, the first 8,000 kids 14 and younger through the gates will receive a Mr. Redlegs mascot magnet, courtesy of Delta Airlines. Gates to the ballpark are scheduled to open at 2:10PM for Season Ticket Holders and 2:40PM for the general public. However, those gate opening times could be adjusted in accordance with Cincinnati Fire Code, should the crowd size outside the gates dictate it so.

Today Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips will receive his 2013 Rawlings Gold Glove Award. The award is the fourth of Brandon’s career.

Also today, we host the 72 teams from the 2014 Skyline Chili Reds Futures Showcase, presented by Safeco Insurance. The third annual high school showcase featured these 72 team teams in 36 games being played throughout Reds Country. The players from the showcase will participate in a large pregame parade around the warning track and the MVPs from most of the 32 games will be recognized (some games have yet to be played due to rainouts). We will also welcome Patty McLeary, wife of longtime Cincinnati-area youth baseball/softball contributor Max McLeary, to serve as today’s Honorary Captain. Max passed away earlier this Spring.

As part of the final day of STAR WARS™ Weekend at the ballpark, Chewbacca will offer up a ceremonial first pitch.

During the middle of the 7th inning break today, St. Xavier High School student Ihsan Walker (pronounced ee-sahn) will lead us in the singing of God Bless America.

For those of you keeping score with us today, either at the ballpark in the Connect Zone or on @BORScore, here’s the scorecard I’m using today —>May4Scorecard
