CATCHING UP

Hi gang!  You may have noticed by the lack of all-caps that I’ve been M.I.A. from B.O.R. for a few days.  The very lovely and talented Lisa Braun did a fantastic job picking up my slack while I was home with the sniffles.

Remember when I was in Arizona and I was bragging about how nice the weather was?  Yeah, well, I’m pretty sure I was run over by the big wheel of the Karma Bus when I returned to Cincinnati.  I guess I deserved it.

But I’m back and ready to rock, so let’s address a few things…

First, Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

A tip o’ the cap to some of our favorite Reds who’ve surely enjoyed a few St. Paddy’s celebrations, including Hannahan, McCormick, Murphy, O’Toole  and of course, Allyn Stout.

How about the Spring Chris Heisey is having?  The Reds outfielder is currently among Cactus League leaders in home runs (5, 1st), total bases (34, 1st), RBI (11, T1st), hits (14, T4th) and doubles (5, T4th).  In 13 games, Heisey is batting .412 with a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .412 on-base mark.  He’s gone 14-for-34 and scored 8 runs.

Here’s hoping it carries over into the regular season and Heisey has a great 2014 season for the Reds.

?????????????????????????????????

Other notables…

Billy Hamilton is batting .303 in 12 games with a .364 slugging and a .410 on-basse.  He’s 10-for-33 with 2 doubles, 4 RBI, 9 stolen bases and 6 walks while striking out just 4 times.

Skip Schumaker has a stat line of .433avg/.600slg/.486obp in 12 games.

Roger Bernadina is doing everything he can to make the ball club.  In 14 games, the outfielder is batting .455 with a .864 slugging and a .600 on-base.  He’s 10-for-22 with a home run, 10 runs scored and 19 total bases.  He’s also tripled twice.

I think you folks are in for a treat with this year’s Reds club.  I don’t really have anything to back that up except Bryan Price is an exceptionally bright baseball man and the coaching staff he’s brought in is top-notch.  I think it’s going to be an exciting season and I’m also guessing you’re going to see some of that fire that many fans have been missing.

…..

Good to be back.  Let’s chat again soon, shall we?

Expect good news!

Jamie
