Tony Cingrani (7-3) allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 5.1 innings as the Reds defeated the Cardinals on Thursday night, 6-2.

Todd Frazier was the Reds star on offense, going 3-for-4 with 2 home runs. Jay Bruce (2-for-4, 1bb, 2rbi) and Shin-Soo Choo (2-for-3, 2bb) also homered.

The Reds bullpen held St. Louis to 1 hit over the final 3.2 innings to preserve the victory.

With tonight’s victory, the Reds climb to within 1 1/2 games of the second place Cardinals and 3 games of the NL Central-leading Pirates, who were off tonight.

Beginning Friday night, the Reds will host the West-leading Dodgers in the first of a 3-game set.
