“AWESOME!  TOTALLY AWESOME!  ALRIGHT, HAMILTON!!” – J. Spicoli (Fast Times at Ridgemont High)

Homer Bailey dominated in his 7.0 shutout innings and Billy Hamilton made his Major League debut…count, as the Reds blanked the Cardinals on a gorgeous Tuesday night at GABP, 1-0.

Bailey scattered 2 hits over his 7 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 walk while fanning 8 to even his record at 10-10.

Manny Parra pitched a scoreless 8th and Aroldis Chapman lit up the radar gun like a Christmas Tree (103mph), striking out all 3 Cardinals he faced in the 9th for his 34th save.

In the 7th inning, Billy Hamilton made his big league debut, pinch-running for Ryan Ludwick, who led off the inning with a single.  Hamilton promptly stole second to a thunderous GABP ovation.  He then scampered home on Todd Frazier’s double.  It’d be the game’s only run.
