A RANDOM POST ON THE REDS NUMBER “6″
To make room for Billy Hamilton on the Reds 40-man roster, RHP Pedro Villarreal was designated for assignment, cleared waivers and outrighted to Triple-A Louisville.
Hamilton takes over the uniform number six, last worn by Drew Stubbs.
- The first Reds player to wear “6″ was National Baseball Hall of Famer Chick Hafey.
- Two players named Dixie Howell both donned the number six for the Reds. Both Dixie Howells played on the same Reds team in 1949 (one wore 6, the other 39).
- Hal King, whose dramatic home run against the Dodgers in 1973 turned the Reds season around, wore “6.”
