#REDS WIN! BEAT THE CLEVELAND INDIANS ON MEMORIAL DAY, 4-2
Mike Leake was solid in his 7.1 innings, allowing just 2 runs (1er) on 5 hits with no walks and 7 strikeouts and both Shin-Soo Choo and Joey Votto homered as the Reds beat the Indians on Monday, 4-2.
Votto’s 2-run homer in the 8th, snapped a 2-2 tie and allowed Aroldis Chapman to close down the game in the 9th for his 13th save.
Over their last 16 games, Reds pitchers are 13-3 with a 2.49 ERA.
In his last 8 starts, Leake is 4-2 with a 2.13 ERA (50.2ip, 112er). His consecutive scoreless innings streak was snapped today at 16.2ip.
Votto’s home run extended his streak of reaching base safely to 16 straight games.
Today’s game at GABP was sold-out for the 4th consecutive day. It marks just the second time since moving to the riverfront in 1970 that the Reds have sold out four consecutive regular season games. The only other time came in June of 2004 (2g vs Tex, 2g vs Pit).
Plenty of seats remain for tomorrow’s homestand finale against Cleveland at Great American Ball Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10pm ET. Mat Latos will oppose Zach McAllister.
Come on down to GABP for a game! You’ll have a great time, I promise.
