TODAY’S RUNDOWN; DAT DOUBLE PLAY
From my pal @Bongreatness, who had some problems accessing the ballpark today…
The first 30,000 fans in attendance at today’s game will receive an Aroldis Chapman bobblehead, courtesy of Cincinnati Bell. Gates to the ballpark are scheduled to open at 2:10PM for Season Ticket Holders and 2:40PM for the general public. However, if the crowd outside the gates dictates it so, those times will be adjusted in accordance with Cincinnati Fire Code.
Today the Reds will be wearing their “Los Rojos” alternative jerseys for the first time in team history. The jerseys are being worn today in conjunction with the first Dusty Days game of the 2013 season, which celebrates the rich, multicultural history of our community. In addition to the jerseys the team will be wearing their black BP cap, which is MLB approved for game use. The Reds will wear these caps whenever they were the Rojos jerseys this season (home or away).
Due to yesterday’s inclement weather, today will be the first Tailgate on the Terrace of the season. The Tailgate on the Terrace features music and other entertainment just outside the gates on Crosley Terrace, along with the Budweiser Mobile Bar, which opens 3 hours before the game and remains open until the end of the 1st inning, featuring $4 aluminum can Anheuser-Busch products.
The Suzuki Cooperative of Cincinnati Public Schools will perform their annual pregame concert from the field prior to today’s game. The Suzuki Cooperative will perform from the rightfield grass at approximately 3:40PM and also perform our National Anthem today.
Former Red Dmitri Young will be in the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum today from 1:30-3:30PM today. “Da Meat Hook” will be meeting fans and signing autographs for free, for those with a paid admission to the museum during that time.
If you missed it last night, here’s video of the amazing double play turned by Brandon Phillips against the Brewers….
