Hi folks! TGIF! I hope your brackets haven’t been busted yet…
Here’s some stuff for ya…
Fifteen hundred Opening Day tickets will go on sale Saturday, March 23 (tomorrow) at 9 am at the Great American Ball Park ticket windows only. The available tickets to the April 1 season opener vs. the L.A. Angels (4:10 pm) are limited to 1,000 View Level and 500 Standing Room Only.
And yes, the line has already formed. Here are some photos from my colleague Michael “Mando” Anderson…
I had the following text message last night with the only person I know who picked Harvard to beat New Mexico…
Todd: I told u harvard. Here we go crimson. Cinderella. Put that on twitter after this Wwww.
Todd: I want to c it on twitter asap thanks
Check out reds.com/backabracket to see “Todd’s” picks.
Thanks to Stephanie Ben, we had a Be The Match mini-marrow registry drive here at the Reds Player Development Complex here in Goodyear. Several of the Reds front office workers and media members participated.
The issue of life-threatening blood cancers has come front-and-center with the Reds organization ever since one of our own, Chris Herrell, has had to battle this terrible condition. Chris is currently scheduled for a marrow transplant in April. That doesn’t mean he’s out of the woods, by any means. Please keep him in your thoughts and please-please-please see how you can participate in a Be The Match marrow registry drive. CLICK HERE for more details.
Congratulations to Ben Wietmarschen, who is one of just 9 lucky people selected to participate in the 2013 MLB Fan Cave! Ben, 28, is from Cincinnati and a huge Reds fan. It’ll be nice to have some Reds-flavor in the Cave this year. Go Ben!

With Opening Day fast approaching, I highly recommend taking a look at FindlayMarketParade.com. There’s some good stuff there, including Opening Day stories from some folks you may know.
Finally, I’d like to publicly congratulate my long-time colleague and one of my dear friends Larry Herms for becoming a father for the first time this week. Larry’s lovely wife Maggie gave birth Wednesday to a beautiful little girl named Eden. Everyone here at Better Off Red Headquarters couldn’t be happier for the Herms Family!
The Reds play the Dodgers this afternoon (4pm ET) in Glendale. Mike Leake will oppose Clayton Kershaw. You can listen to the game on MLB.com’s Gameday Audio (see Reds.com).
Following today’s game, I’m heading down to Phoenix for the McDowell Music Fesitval to see Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros AND The Shins. Pret-tee, pret-tee, pret-tee excited about it, too.
Expect good news!
