GAMEDAY: THE CATCHERS ARE ACTUALLY AHEAD OF THE PITCHERS
After yesterday’s “slobberknocker” in which the Reds and Indians combined for 21 runs on 27 hits, one must wonder if the hitters are actually ahead of the pitchers, rather than the other way around. Usually, the first few games of Spring Training belong to the pitchers. Obviously not the case on Friday.
Despite the 11-10 loss, the good news for the Reds was seeing a healthy Joey Votto (#JoeyVotto). He went 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. The Reds catching trio of Ryan Hanigan (1-for-2, 2-run double), Devin Mesoraco (1-for-1, 2-run homer) and Miguel Olivo (1-for-2, solo homer) also shined.
The Reds and Indians will play again this afternoon at 3:05pm ET. Alfredo Simon will oppose Brett Myers. You can listen to that game on 700 WLW and the Reds Radio Network, or via MLB.com’s Gameday Audio (see Reds.com).
