Reds President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Walt Jocketty said of 3B Scott Rolen, who will not be attending camp with the Reds this spring, “Scott made significant contributions to our team’s recent success, and it isn’t a coincidence we made the playoffs in two of his three full seasons here.  He made a huge impact in Cincinnati with his work ethic and leadership on the field, in the clubhouse and in our community.”

Rolen, who issued this statement through the team, said, “Right now I’m simply not ready to make a commitment. I would like to leave my options open, without closing any doors. I am looking forward to all of the challenges, both personally and professionally, I will face in the future.”

You have always been one of my favorite players and I loved having you be a Cincinnati Red! There is something so reassuring about seeing you in the dugout or on the field! Please stay in Cincinnati! I have not been able to get to a game in Cincinnati since you joined the team and was looking forward to seeing you when the Reds play Philadelphia in May!

I agree with Shirley!!! Rolen is one of my favorite players too!!! Bring him back!!! Won’t be the same without him in the dugout or on the field!!!
