“SEND A CARD TO A FRIEND DAY”

If you’re up for sending me a card, I’ll TAKE THIS ONE and you can mail it to me here at the ballpark.

Pitchers and catchers are due to report to camp on Tuesday while position players check in on the 15th.

In case you missed it, earlier this week the Reds and 700 WLW announced the renewal of the radio rights agreement to broadcast all regular season and postseason games through 2017.  That means at least 5 more years of seeing my main man Bill “Seg” Dennison at GABP.

I’m honored to have been invited to tomorrow’s  University of Cincinnati Baseball’s “First Pitch Reception.”  The event will take place in Great American Ball Park’s “Champions Club” and feature Reds COO Phil Castellini as guest speaker.  During the reception, an announcement is expected to be made regarding a Reds/UC business partnership.

Today marks a sad anniversary in Reds team history…

From Redleg Journal by Rhodes & Snyder
February 7, 1942: The Reds sell 34-year old Ernie Lombardi to the Braves.
Warren Giles thought he had a better catcher on the roster in recently acquired Rollie Hemsley.  Giles couldn’t have been more wrong.  Lombardi won the National League batting title in 1942 with a .330 average, and played in the majors until 1947. He was not inducted into the Hall of Fame until 1986, nine years after his death.  Giles, as an influential member of the Hall of Fame Veterans Committee, had much to do with keeping Lombardi out of Cooperstown.

Might have to head down to Crosley Terrace today to give an ol’ pat-on-the-back to the Lombardi statue.

…..

…..

That’s all for now.  More in a bit.

Expect good news!

Jamie

I voted for 96-100 but I’m really hoping for 100+ #Reds baby

I think 95 wins the division and the Reds end up with about 100 and win the central comfortably. Can’t wait until Opening Day!

Have a great time at spring training and thanks for all of the detailed updating. Teddy, the bat boy for the Reds last August, will be one of the featured stories on the Travel Channel tonight at 9:00 est. Hope you can catch it out there in Arizona.

I VOTED FOR 96 -100 GO REDS.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE REDS GOING TO BE ON FOX
