The last day of the 2012 Winter Meetings (prior to Thursday’s Rule V Draft) usually concludes with the Manager’s Luncheon, as it did today. All 30 managers have lunch with their team’s PR staff and beat writers. Rob Butcher, Larry Herms and I were joined this afternoon by John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com, USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, and of course, Reds skipper Dusty Baker. It’s pretty cool seeing all of the managers under one roof and away from the field.
Here’s a photo from today of the National League managers (weird not seeing the Astros represented this year)…
So, the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, home of the 2012 MLB Winter Meetings, is so big that it has it’s own river running through it…
…with boats and ducks, too…
Rumor has it the place also has it’s own public school system and subway, as well.

Bidding ends tomorrow night on MLB’s really cool Stand Up 2 Cancer auction. Bid HERE now!
Some of the Reds-related names from the past that I’ve seen here at the Winter Meetings in Nashville include Hal Morris, Scott Hatteberg and Wayne Krivsky.
I exchanged text messages earlier today with one of Better Off Red’s all-time favorites – Jonny Gomes. I congratulated him on his new contract with the Red Sox and wished him well on behalf of all of us. Red Sox fans are in for a treat.
I spotted New York Mets third baseman David Wright at the Sirius XM set today giving an interview…
Today also marked the final day of PR Meetings, so I’ll be returning to Cincinnati tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting home and seeing you all at Redsfest. Feels like I’ve been on the road for a while. I doubt Grace and Scout even know who I am anymore!
More in a bit!
Expect good news
