#REDS’ ROB BUTCHER CHECKS IN FROM DAY THREE OF THE @WBCBASEBALL QUALIFIERS IN TAIWAN
Reds Director of Media Relations Rob Butcher is currently in Taiwan working the World Baseball Classic qualifiers on behalf of Major League Baseball. He’s been kind enough to document his experience for Better Off Red with posts and pictures. Enjoy!
Today was photo day for Team Philippines, Thailand and New Zealand. One of the interesting photos of the day was of Tom Navasero, head of the Philippines’ delegation, clicking his heels in mid-air. Following the head shots, each team worked out for the first time at Xinzhuang Baseball Stadium, which looked fantastic by the way. The crews of Rick Dell and Chris Day have done an outstanding job.
A lot of today’s media attention was focused on former Major Leaguer Johnny Damon, who is playing for Thailand. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Johnny over the years at World Series and All-Star Games, and he remains an absolute joy to deal with.
Today’s various photos include shots of batting practice, the ballpark’s museum and other random photos that I hope are getting folks hungry for the upcoming World Baseball Classic qualifying tournament, which begins Thursday both here in Taiwan and in Panama City. I’ll have more photos of tomorrow’s workouts, along with photos of the press conference and welcome dinner.
