First and foremost, I’d like to congratulate the San Francisco Giants on an incredible postseason.  Last night they officially put an end to the 2012 baseball season by winning the World Series.  In both the NLDS against the Reds and the NLCS against the Cardinals, the Giants staved off elimination to come back and win both of those series.  Mighty impressive.  There would be no such drama in the Fall Classic as San Francisco swept the Tigers in 4 games.

I have some friends who work for the Giants and I’m very happy for them.

Now on to some other stuff…

Polls will open this afternoon for The Burt Awards!  The “Burts” are Reds end-of-the-season honors that only the readers of Better Off Red get to vote for.

Each day until Friday, a new batch of categories will be unveiled for your voting pleasure.

If you miss a day, or just want to go back and vote some more, click on the “The Burt Awards” link listed under the “Categories” section on the sidebar of this blog.  In the meantime, have fun with it.  It’s not meant to be taken too seriously.  You’ll have until midnight November 11 to vote.  Results will be announced November 12.

And speaking of November 12, that’s the day Redsfest tickets go on sale.  Don’t forget!

I received lots of great Reds-themed Jack-O-Lanterns and Halloween costumes.  Here are just a few…

That’s all for now. Check back in a little while for the first batch of Burt Award categories (and then start voting!).

Expect good news
