WEDNESDAY’S #REDS GAMENOTES & FARM REPORT; ELIAS SAYS…
From our friends at Elias Sports Bureau…
Brandon Phillips led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run sparking the Reds to a 5-3 victory over the Pirates on Tuesday night. The Reds have now won each of the last 17 games in which Phillips has homered dating back to last September. That is tied for the second longest such streak in Cincinnati’s franchise history. The Reds won 19 consecutive games in which Lee May homered in 1970 and had 17-game winning streaks in games in which Frank Robinson went deep from 1962-63 and when Eddie Taubensee homered from 1999 to 2000.
From my pal @Bongreatness…
During pregame ceremonies tonight we will have two special check presentations:
• Reds corporate partner Western & Southern will present a check to the Barrett Cancer Center in the amount of $20,000 as part of the Reds on Radio “Strike Out Cancer” program
• The Reds, along with Mary Kay & the Mary Kay “Dream Team”, will present a check for over $6,500 to The Dragonfly Foundation on behalf of fundraising tickets sold for tonight’s game by local independent Mary Kay salespeople (exact donation TBD once ticket sales are completed later today)
Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman will take part in both check presentations.
