GOAL MET: MARTY’S GETTING HIS HEAD SHAVED TONIGHT ON TV
$20,000 goal met to shave Marty Brennaman’s head
Head shaving to be broadcast live on Reds.com and FOX Sports Ohio
CINCINNATI (August 3, 2012) — Fans and partners throughout Reds Country have stepped up to the plate and now Hall of Fame broadcaster Marty Brennaman will have his head shaved live on the field after tonight’s Reds vs. Pirates game at Great American Ball Park.
Earlier today, the total donations to the Reds Community Fund surpassed the $20,000 goal set by Marty earlier this week.
The goal was met thanks to hundreds of fans donating online, over the phone and at the ballpark.
Also contributing were generous donations from the following:
• Cincinnati Bell
• Clyde N. Day Foundation
• P&G’s top grooming brands – Braun and Head & Shoulders
• Champion Window, Sunroom and Home Exteriors
Donations to Reds Community Fund in honor of “Shave Marty” will be accepted throughout tonight at http://www.reds.com/community and in the giant Reds Piggy Bank located on the Terrace Level behind home plate.
A grand total of the donations will be announced during the postgame activities.
Tonight’s game is being billed as a “Marty Party” to celebrate his 70th birthday on July 28, 2012. Sponsors include Klosterman Baking Company, Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks, Kroger and JS Gold & Coin.
Immediately following the game, Marty will be presented with a cake and the crowd will join together to sing “Happy Birthday” to the Hall of Famer.
In conjunction with WLW, some of the more memorable calls and fan favorites of Marty’s storied broadcasting career with the Reds will be played throughout tonight’s game and as part of the postgame activities.
The night will conclude with a postgame fireworks show featuring a soundtrack picked by Marty including songs by The Beach Boys, Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons, The Eagles, Chicago, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and more.
