#REDS WIN! “BAND OF BROTHERS” BEAT THE PADRES, 9-4
The Reds plated 6 runs in the 2nd inning and didn’t look back, defeating the Padres Thursday afternoon, 9-4. Johnny Cueto started for Cincinnati and allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 7.1 innings (1bb, 9k, 2hr) to improve his record to 14-5.
Cueto served up 2 home runs today, his first since allowing a homer to Todd Helton on 5/25 – a span of 11 starts without a home run allowed.
The Reds scored 9 runs on 13 hits. Scott Rolen went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Todd Frazier (1-for-4, 3rbi) belted his second homer in as many days and his third in 5 games. He now has 13 on the season. Jay Bruce (2r, 2rbi), Zack Cozart (1r, 1rbi), Miguel Cairo (1r) and Ryan Hanigan (1r, 1rbi) had 2 hits each. Drew Stubbs walked and crossed the plate twice. The Reds are 39-3 when he scores a run.
The Reds are now 17-3 since the All-Star break and have won 20 of their last 23 games. Cincinnati is 23 games over .500 for the first time since 9/4/10. Since Joey Votto left the lineup with a knee injury on 7/16, the Redlegs have gone 15-3.
Up next the Reds host the second-place Pittsburgh Pirates for a 3-game series beginning Friday night at 7:10. Mat Latos will oppose new Pirate Wandy Rodriguez. Also Friday, a certain Reds broadcaster will be unveiling a new look. Tickets are still available.

That was a great game to watch. Can’t wait to see how the Reds do against the Pirates.
