Prior to the singing of our National Anthem tonight we will hold a Moment of Remembrance for the life of Mrs. Louise Nippert.  An integral part of the Reds ownership groups over the past 46 years, Mrs. Nippert passed away a week ago today at the age of 100.

Please also note that tonight’s National Anthem will be signed for the hearing impaired in attendance as part of the annual “Dummy” Hoy Night, organized each season by the Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center of Greater Cincinnati.  William “Dummy” Hoy was the first, and most accomplished, Deaf player in Major League Baseball history and is a member of the Reds Hall of Fame.

CINCINNATI (July 30, 2012) — The Reds Community Fund and P&G are partnering for a community service project on Thursday, August 2 at Cheviot Memorial Fields.

Over 400 P&G North America Marketing employees, along with Reds Community Fund staff and board members, will restore the Cheviot Memorial Fields, the historic grandstand, the Cheviot Memorial Fieldhouse and the surrounding community playground and picnic areas.

Teams of volunteers will complete the installation of new pitchers mounds, batter boxes, dugout benches, backstop fencing and bases along with150 picnic tables, fresh coats of paint and landscaping.

The project began in the spring with Reds field vendors and members of the Reds grounds crew working to install new fencing and backstops, field grading and leveling and new infield dirt and grass.

The historic grandstand dates back to the 1930’s and the fields have been home to the Cheviot Patriots semi-pro baseball club since 1936.

The new fields will be dedicated at a 3:45 p.m. ceremony on August 2 featuring Reds and P&G executives along with the Mayor of Cheviot Sam Keller and local civic, business and community leaders.

Cheviot Memorial Fields is located at 3729 Robb Avenue, Cheviot, Ohio 45211

Cheviot Memorial Fields were chosen as the winner of the second annual Home Field Makeover contest. As the winner, the City of Cheviot and Cheviot Memorial Fields are receiving a complete field renovation project, underwritten by the Reds Community Fund and P&G.
