#REDS WIN! BEAT THE BREWERS 3-1
Homer Bailey was excellent in his 8.0 innings pitched, scattering 6 hits with 1 run and no walks while striking out 10 as the Reds defeated the Brewers Friday night, 3-1.
Bailey has won 4 straight starts, during which time he’s given up just 6 earned runs over 30.2 innings (1.76era).
Aroldis Chapman pitched a perfect 9th for his 16th save. 25 of Chapman’s last 31 outs have come via strikeout.
The Reds scored 3 runs on 8 hits.
Jay Bruce snapped an 0-for-19 skid, going 2-for-3 with a home run (#19) and a double. Zack Cozart (#10) and Scott Rolen (#4) also went deep.
Devin Mesoraco extended his career-high hitting streak to 8 games.
At 53-40 the Reds are a season-high 13 games over .500. Friday’s win secured a winning homestand for the Reds, who’ve won 9 of their last 11 games.
