#REDS ERASE A 6-RUN DEFICIT, DEFEAT THE DIAMONDBACKS 7-6
The Red did something on Thursday afternoon that they hadn’t done since 5/21/07 – they came all the way back from a 6-run deficit to win a ball game.
Brandon Phillips led the comeback Reds, going 2-for-4 with a 3-run homer and a 2-run double. He also scored twice.
Mike Leake started on the mound for the Reds and allowed 6 runs on 11 hits in 5.1 innings (1bb, 2k, 2hr). Alfredo Simon pitched 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to get the win (1h). Aroldis Chapman fired a perfect 9th for his 15th victory.
The Reds and Diamondbacks split the 4-game set. The Brewers come to town Friday for a 3-game weekend series at Great American Ball Park. Tickets are still available.
The Pirates were off today, so the Reds enjoy a first-place lead in the NL Central by a half a game.
