#REDS WIN! SWEEP THE CARDINALS, TAKE OVER FIRST-PLACE ALONE

Scott Rolen broke a 2-2 tie in the 8th inning with a 2-out, 2-run single and the Reds won their 6th straight game, completing the 3-game sweep of the Cardinals Sunday night at Great American Ball Park.

The Reds are 12 games over .500 for the first time all season and have taken over sole possession of first place in the National League Central Division.

Rolen (2-for-4, 2rbi), Chris Heisey (3-for-4, 1r), Joey Votto (2-for-3, double #36, 2r, 1rbi, 1bb), Devin Mesoraco (1-for-4), Brandon Phillips (1-for-3, 1r, 1rbi) and Homer Bailey (1-for-3) all contributed to the Reds 10-hit attack.

Bailey started for the Reds and was outstanding in his 8.0 innings, scattering 9 hits while allowing 2 runs (1er) with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts (1hr).  Aroldis Chapman, pitching for the 3rd consecutive game, notched his 13th save (1ip, 3k).

The Reds’ 10-game homestand continues Monday as they open up a 4-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.  Bronson Arroyo will face off against lefty Wade Miley.  Gametime is 7:10pm ET.

I had to stay up for this whole thing, and woke up at 5 Monday for work. Still worth it though! Chapman is so exciting to watch when he is “on”.
