Tonight is the first of two “Police & Fire Appreciation Nights” taking place at Great American Ball Park this season. As part of these festivities we will have:
• Welcome and salute to all members of our Police & Fire Departments
• A ceremonial first pitch by Cincinnati Police Chief James E. Craig
• A ceremonial first pitch by firefighter Tom Voellmecke Captain of Engine Company 29 in the West End
• A Moment of Silence to honor all fallen members of the Police & Fire Departments
• The National Anthem will be sung by Firefighter Bennyce Hamilton
• Game Ball Delivery by Detective Brian Fuller of the Covington Police Department
• Honorary Captain will be Chief Deputy Sean Donovan of the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department
Also during pregame ceremonies tonight Reds outfielder/third baseman Todd Frazier will receive the “Save-A-Life” Award from Dr. Henry Heimlich. Dr. Heimlich, who invented the Heimlich Maneuver in 1974, would like to recognize Frazier for his heroic efforts in saving the life of a diner who was choking in a Pittsburgh restaurant earlier this year on May 29th. Dr. Heimlich is a Cincinnati native currently living in Hyde Park.
