#REDS WIN! END 4-GAME SKID
The Reds blanked the Twins, 6-0 in front of 41,750 fans – the sixth sellout of the season at GABP.
Johnny Cueto did what stoppers do; the undisputed ace of the staff fired 7.0 shutout innings, allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk while fanning 9. He improved his record to 9-3 and helped halt Cincinnati’s 4-game losing skid by also driving in a pair of runs at the plate.
Cueto’s now allowed just 2 runs over his past 3 starts (23ip, 15h, 2er, 2bb, 24k).
Jay Bruce (2r), Scott Rolen (2r, 1rbi, 1bb) and Todd Frazier had 2 hits each. Brandon Phillips belted his 10th home run.
The Reds will try to win the series in Sunday’s rubber match with the visiting Twins. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10. Mike Leake will oppose lefty Scott Diamond.
