#REDS WIN! SWEEP THE TRIBE
The Reds scored 12 runs on a season-high 17 hits and completed the 3-game sweep of the Indians by beating the Tribe, 12-5 Thursday afternoon at Great American Ball Park.
Brandon Phillips continued his dominance over his former team by going 3-for-4 with a home run and 4 RBI.
Joey Votto got the scoring started for the Reds with a 3-run homer in the first inning.
Ryan Ludwick (3-for-5) also homered. Zack Cozart collected 3 hits. Mike Leake started for Cincinnati and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 4.1 innings (2bb, 6k, 2hr). Jose Arredondo earned the win in relief (0.2ip, 1k).
Chris Heisey was taken out of the game for precautionary reasons after suffering a mild left groin strain.
Reds pitchers combined for 11 strikeouts today, so everyone in attendance wins free pizza (La Rossa’s) and ice cream (UDF).
Attendance today was an impressive 34,193, bringing the season total to 901,298 after 33 dates for an average of 27,312. After 33 dates in 2011, the Reds averaged 23, 758 fans (783,998 total).
The Redlegs now hit the road for a 6-game trip against the Mets and these very Indians. Friday’s 7:10 game against the Mets will feature RHP Bronson Arroyo (2-4, 3.79) squaring off against RHP Dillon Gee (4-4, 4.42).
