According to Elias Sports Bureau, Aroldis Chapman’s 24 appearances without an earned run to begin the season is a franchise record and the Major Leagues’ longest such streak since Will Ohman began the 2010 campaign with 25 apps before he allowed an earned run…John Hudek had owned the club record since 1998, when he didn’t allow an earned run until his 19th appearance…Chapman’s 29.0 innings pitched without allowing an earned run are the most in the Major Leagues.

Chapman has recorded at least 1 strikeout in all 24 apps and 18 times produced at least 2 strikeouts…according to Elias, the Major League record for consecutive relief apps with at least 1 strikeout is 39 by Bruce Sutter for the Cubs in 1977
