#REDS WIN! BEAT BREWERS 2-1 IN A NAIL-BITER
Johnny Cueto pitched 7.0 shutout innings (5h, 1bb, 5k) and the Reds held on Wednesday afternoon to beat the Brewers 2-1.
The Reds were shut down by Zack Greinke for 8.0 innings. It wasn’t until the 9th off John Axford when the Reds plated both of their runs. Joey Votto’s double scored Drew Stubbs all the way from first base. Brandon Phillips then drove Votto home with a single.
Things got a little hairy in the bottom of the 9th. Ryan Braun homered off Sean Marshall. Eventually Marshall was lifted for Logan Ondrusek. With the bases loaded and two outs, Ondrusek got pinch hitter George Kottaras to fly out to left.
The winner was Aroldis Chapman (3-0). The losing pitcher was Axford (0-2). Ondrusek gets his first save.
The win marks Dusty Baker’s 1,500th as a Major League manager.
Beginning April 19, the Reds have the best record in the National League (12-6). The Reds also are unbeaten in their last 6 series (5-0-1).
