September 4, 1999 – “The Reds club a National League record nine home runs in a 22-3 drubbing of the Phillies at Veterans Stadium. Eight different Cincinnati hitters connected for homers, which broke the major league record.”
“Eddie Taubensee hit two home runs, and Dmitri Young, Jeffrey Hammonds, Greg Vaughn, Aaron Boone, Pokey Reese, Brian Johnson and Mark Lewis each added one. After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Reds scored three runs in the second, one in the third, one in the fourth, nine in the fifth, one in the sixth, one in the seventh, and six in the eighth.”
