TODAY’S TRANSACTIONS: Today the Reds acquired from the Phillies IF Wilson Valdez in exchange for minor league LHP Jeremy Horst; signed to a 2-year contract through the 2013 season, avoiding arbitration, RHP Nick Masset; signed to a minor league contract and invited to Major League spring training camp IF/OF Willie Harris.
RHP MAT LATOS will be available to the media tomorrow at Great American Ball Park.
TOMORROW’S KICKOFF: The 2012 Reds Caravan, presented by Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network, kicks off tomorrow morning and is scheduled to make 15 fan stops in 4 states covering more than 2,700 miles over 4 days…the motor coaches pull out at 9:00 a.m. from in front of the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum…Reds broadcasters, manager Dusty Baker and current players Brandon Phillips, Devin Mesoraco and Todd Fraizer will attend the event along with Reds CEO Bob Castellini, GM Walt Jocketty and top prospects Billy Hamilton, Tucker Barnhart and Ryan LaMarre…full details of the Reds Caravan can be found at…for media attending tomorrow’s caravan launch, please do not park on the east side of Joe Nuxhall Way so that our motor coaches can park in front of the Hall of Fame.


I am sorry to see Herr Horst go. He did a very impressive job the handful of times that the Reds used him last season. But I’m sure that Valdez will be a good acquisition for us. Keep workin’ those phones, Mr. Castellini!!
