1964 – The Reds trade Eddie Kasko to Houston for Wally Wolf and Jim Dickson

1949 – Ewell Blackwell has surgery in in Glendale, California to remove a damaged right kidney.

Blackwell never fully recovered in 1949.  He started only four games and had a 5-5 record with a 4.23 ERA.
