The light rain has officially morphed into fat flaky snow at 100 Joe Nuxhall Way….

Tune into Mo Egger’s radio show on ESPN 1530 AM this afternoon at 5:05pm ET as he’ll have my friend Rich Linville on the program.  Rich will represent the Cincinnati Reds on MLB Network’s first-ever game show, Baseball IQ on Tuesday, January 24 at 9pm ET.

Rich, a scoreboard operator at GABP (he’s the guy who comes up with the Scoreboard Stumper questions) will be one of 32 participants representing each MLB club, and the Hall of Fame with the chance of winning $45,000 for charity.  Linville will be playing for the Reds Community Fund

You might think you’re pretty smart when it comes to baseball trivia, but trust me, the questions are going to be really tough!  They’ll cover everything from current players and managers to World Series champions, MVPs, Cy Young Award winners, Hall of Famers, milestones and more.

Below are a few sample questions:

  • Name the 12 players to hit at least 40 home runs in a season during the 1980s.
  • Name the last five San Francisco Giants to lead the league in home runs.
  • Name the eight Pittsburgh Pirates to have 20 homers and 20 stolen bases in the same season.
  • Name the only two teams to have four 20-game winners.  What were the teams and who were the pitchers?

More in a bit.

One question that sticks in my brain 35 years after it was asked – riverfront stadium late summer game in late 70’s. “What member of Reds organization has played for every Nat league team”
We scratched our heads trying to think of who it could be.
The answer got groans from the fans “the Organist”
Yes, a play on words – still remember it today!

It got very cold here in the past few days so hopefully we will get more snow. Those questions are tough, I would need to call a friend.

On a much nicer note though, there is something serene about seeing GABP, or any other baseball field in the winter time…It is odd to think that in 3 months the sun will be shining(hopefully), the stands will be packed(hopefully) and the Reds will be starting a season long journey to a World Series Title!

The Morning Line, 1/13 (Better Off Red edition) was great Jamie. I was LOL the whole time
