IT’S GOOD TO BE BACK…I DO ACTUALLY MEAN THAT
Home, let me come home. Home is wherever I’m with you. – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros.
Happy New Year! I have returned from my most excellent adventure, rested and ready to rock.
Sarasota (Flory-da) is very nice this time of the year – I have photos and a sun burn to prove it!
I had a great vacation in the former Spring Training city of the Cincinnati Reds. Lots of sun, rest and relaxation. I went to some of my old haunts including the Daiquiri Deck, the dog track, the Hub, Mattison’s City Grille, Two Senioritas and most importantly – Siesta Beach.
One of my favorite spots, one that I never visited while the Reds were in town, was the Ringling Circus Museum. What an impressive place! And the Ca’ d’ Zan Mansion, where the Ringlings called home, is mind-blowing.
Overall the trip was good for my soul. Everyone deserves at least a couple of vacations during the year. Here’s hoping you take advantage of yours.
And despite hanging out in paradise for the past week, I’m actually happy to be back – even though the Queen City forgot to switch on the heater for me!

1. Not a worry in the world
While I was away, I learned that Sports Illustrated’s Joe Sheehan really likes the Reds chances in 2012, and by that I mean, REALLY likes them:
“The Reds will win the World Series. The AL has, arguably, the five best teams in baseball. The NL has that kind of parity at the top, though at a lower level of performance. In a short series, though, that doesn’t really matter — and we’ll see that again in 2012, as the Reds, winners of a weak NL Central, ride the bats of Joey Votto and Jay Bruce into the World Series, where rookie catcher Devin Mesoraco and a deep bullpen dispatch Texas in six games. The Rangers, winners of 94 regular-season games and the AL West, become just the third team — and the first since 1913 — to lose three straight Fall Classics.”
While that’s very flattering and exciting, I think the Brewers and Cardinals would prefer us to play the games first.
I hope you enjoyed the guest bloggers last week. I thought they did a wonderful job and I’m very thankful that they kept BOR running in my absence.
A big “thank you” to Rob Butcher, Chris Bausano, Mo Egger, Nick St. Pierre, Jarrod Rollins, and Zach Bonkowski. They were great. And special thanks to Lisa Braun for doing the heavy lifting (as always).
I usually take a second each day to thank my new followers on Twitter. Today, I’m going to thank them right here on the blog…

If you unwrapped a brand new Twitter this Christmas and are looking for someone to follow, I’m your guy. Click on the “Follow” button on the right sidebar of this page.
So now it’s time to finish going through my emails and voicemails. I also have to get back to work on those minor league bios but I’ll have more stuff right here on BOR later. Stay tuned!
Expect good news,
